MVP card + MVP gear combo

Just want to ask how this works?

I see only Vesper card and FBH card are having the same slot-gear i.e., HG-HG, shoes-shoes respectively.

Phreo card and Drake card arent; Weapon-Armor, Weapon-Garment.

So how MVP card + MVP gear works? Does the combo effect works even when they are not or cannot be compounded at the same time?

simple yes.
I doesn't matter that they are in different slots. Combo works as long as both is equipped.
