Monthly Reports for Suspensions and Bans

Something that I found as really bold for MMORPG developer to do was making regular reports regarding bans or suspensions.

This is what we as FFXIV players regularly get. On the surface level it probably won't feel that much, but for MMORPG to have this data being shown to public, it really emphasize that the developers are actively combatting these behaviors, they do not tolerate any kinds of rule breaking behaviors, and not scared to lose players (despite that person let's say donated 1000€ already).

I was just thinking if this could probably show the public that MuhRO is not scared to actually enforce the rules fully and permanently ban, IP ban, or even Hardware ID ban the problematic individuals regardless of the amounts of money they donated nor the amounts of works they did for the server. It doesn't have to be too specific why someone get banned ofc. Just show the numbers like how the post would be enough imo.

I'm wondering if you'd like something like this on some statistics page on the homepage instead of actual reports.

Total Master Accounts banned: 192 (last month: X)
Total Game Accounts banned: 246 (last month: Y)

Muh We have a small community, I doubt 240+ characters would be banned. Just naming the character you ban, instead of some number, would ease people's minds much more. Name drops make people think twice, because it follows them.

Muh That's good news. As stated though, naming the banned character wouldn't be all that much work. I doubt you would need to make 50+ names a day, seeing as you already banned 240+.

Meer If you're not interested in names, then why even ask for successful bans? How will you know that your report made a difference? or how will you know you provided enough evidence? We need to know.

Also, why are you not a fan of naming people? is it because you have friends on that list? or perhaps, if your friends do go on that list, that you might be the next accused? if you and your friends are not those types of people, then you have nothing to worry about. It's those people that need to worry.

Not really a fan of showing chat's name openly. Just showing the numbers would be good enough for me.

The idea of it being monthly report is being shown every month on the discord #annoucements for example as a monthly reminder, that there were players who permanently banned or temporarily suspended. Having the numbers on statistic page would have less impact compared to a monthly report in my opinion. But in the end having this number shown is actually a good thing either way.

EvilLumi Dunno holmes, I'm kinda with Meer on that one.
I mean, a regular player shittalking a rightfully banned one is one thing.
But an actual admin providing this information willingly....it'd feel petty.
Certainly not what I'd expect from any staff member worth the modicum of respect they ask from their playerbase.

It's the playerbase that should earn their respect. If you cheat or break other rules repeatedly why would I care about having respect for you as a player? (why would muh putting you on a list for an offense you did be disrespectful anyway?)

Personally I don't care. Having some feedback on our reports would certainly be amazing but I don't really need to have their name on a twitter thread or something.

I don't actually.
Never been banned from any server I've played on.
I'm not against it because I'm a problematic player afraid of seeing his name on an hypotetical list, I'm against it because I find the very notion distateful.
And quite possibly shady considering it'd achieve little more than just displaying the anonymous number of accounts banned.

IMO that's a wrong philosophy (and a bit of a red flag) to have for a server admin/GM.
Sure, respect is a 2 way street, that I will never argue, but if you're expecting respect out of the playerbase, then being respectful toward them yourself seems like the first step.

Sadly I'm not an expert that understand human interaction to the degree that I can predict if showing the offender's name on the report would bring bad things or good things, I just have a gut feeling that showing their name might cause more troubles than benefits.

It seemes to be the safest to not show anything regarding bans and suspensions, and that's why almost no MMORPG ever made this kind of reports, but only FFXIV managed to do it so far (?). Showing the numbers like what Muh did above is enough "reminder" that there are people on the banned list already. Cause my aim was the report to be a reminder, not a wanted list.
