There is no reward for getting first place, or even getting the #1 overall. Although, if you are capable of ranking, you can still consistently avg 70-150 coins per event (from kills + egg reward).
-edit-: if we are to add rewards for rankings, I suggest a reset for the ranks as it would be incredibly unfair to add rewards now when the mob density is nerfed. The numbers are inflated from the previous density.
