We cannot expect perfection from humans. If only people read the rules we don't need this, we don't need to ban people for broken rules, we don't even need rules at that point because people will behave perfectly. But we don't live in a perfect world, in utopia. Be realistic.
Stupid people will do stupid shit. Remove their ability to do so and you lessen the burden of GMs dealing with their remorse in tickets because of their own actions.
If the feature is implemented, to update it you only need to input new item IDs, which won't waste any development time and in fact increase it because they no longer need to handle those tickets I mention above.
Why are you trying to wastes their dev time dealing with stupid people when we can stop them doing stupid shit and not flood supports. Just remove their ability to sell important items, and if we wanna add more item in the future just put the item ID on the feature, again I don't see how this will waste dev time in the future when you only need to input new ID's to the feature.
Again this is more of a benefit so that we can get quicker updates, rather than let GM deal with tons of stupid people and wastes their time looking at the problem and discover that they are the user's fault when we can just make them not able to do that.
